About the College
Government General Degree College, Keshiary, also commonly known as Keshiary Government College, was established in 2015. This government degree college is located in the rural agrarian area of the Keshiary block, under the Kharagpur subdivision in the district of Paschim Medinipur of West Bengal. Since its inception, the college is dedicated for catering higher education among the youth of the locality and beyond, many of whom are first generation learners and are from economically challenged backward society.
The college is temporarily affiliated to the Vidyasagar University and has been recognized under the 2f status of the University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of India since 2018. The college has adopted the syllabi and curriculum of the Vidyasagar University and has been offering degree courses in Arts and Science streams under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) till the Academic Year (AY) 2022-2023. Justifying the notion and vision of National Education Policy, 2020 (NEP, 2020), the college has adopted the Curriculum and Credit Framework for Undergraduate Programmes (CCFUP) from the AY 2023-2024.
Apart from the regular academic exercises, the college is actively involved with activities that encourage holistic development of its students, like: organising cultural events, sports, debate and essay competition, social services (under the leadership of its vibrant NSS Unit 1), keeping the campus clean and green etc. The students of the college have earned laurels for the college by winning ranks in different competitions in intercollege level, district level etc. The college feels proud about its alumni who have already etched their mark in the arena of still higher learning as well as in the frontiers of employment in private and Government sectors.
The lush green campus of the college studded with vibrant faculty staff and cooperative non-teaching staff is an ideal upcoming citadel of teaching- learning in the map of higher education of West Bengal.
