Mentoring
A Mentoring Cell in college is like a helpful hub where students can get advice and support from faculty members. Teachers are there to guide students through their studies, help them with any problems they might have, and even offer advice on their future career. It's like having a friendly and knowledgeable teacher -student relationship to turn to whenever the students need a hand in navigating their college life.
With this in mind, Government General Degree College, Keshiary has implemented a mentoring program in which faculty members meet with students on a regular basis to listen to the concerns of the students and provide guidance on their general personality development. A group of about 20 students (mentees) are assigned to a teacher (mentor) who will monitor and assist the students in academics and overall development. This is a continuous process till the end of the academic career of the student. During the last semester the students are advised for higher studies along with proper career guidance. Mentoring system serves as a vital support system for students, fostering personal growth, academic success, and professional development.
Objectives of the Mentoring Cell:
- Provide guidance and support to students.
- Assist students in academic matters, like understanding courses and study techniques.
- Foster personal development by helping students identify strengths, weaknesses, and goals.
- Offer career guidance and preparation, including resume building and interview practice.
- Enhance students' employability skills through workshops and training sessions.
- Create peer support networks for students facing similar challenges.
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Offer immediate assistance in times of crisis or emergencies.
- Continuously evaluate and improve mentoring programs to better serve students.
