1. Soft Skills

Report on Soft Skill:

Government General Degree College Keshiary arranged course on Recitation to develop this particular skill among the participants. The course was designed and conducted by the faculty members of Department of Bengali, GGDC, Keshiary. Classes were conducted between 17.10.2019- 28.12.2019. Thirty-four Students are enrolled and completed that course.

Under the guidance and instruction of Dr. Monua Panja, a two day workshop on Recitation was organized at the college from 12/5/2022 to 13/5/2022. The Duration of the course was ten hours. Fourteen Students attended the workshop.

Language and communication Skills

Under the guidance and instruction of Prof. Md. Ataur Rahaman Government General Degree College Keshiary arranged a three day workshop on Communicative English from 26.12.2019 to 28.12.2019 The Duration of the course was sixteen hours. Thirteen Students attended the workshop.

Under the guidance and instruction of Prof. Md. Ataur Rahaman Government General Degree College Keshiary arranged another three day workshop on Communicative English from 16.5.2022 to 18.5.2022. The Duration of the course was sixteen hours. Twelve Students attended the workshop.

Government General Degree College Keshiary arranged another course on Communicative English which is part of the Add on course on communicative Skills and competitive exams. It was held between 16th -25th may, 2023, during summer vacation. Classes were taken by Dr. Md. Ataur Rahaman, Assistant Professor in English, GGDC, Keshiary. Forty Students are enrolled and completed that course.

3. Life Skills (Yoga, Physical fitness, health and hygiene, self-employment and entrepreneurial skills

Yoga Training

NSS unit 1 of the Government General Degree College, Keshiary organised a whole day comprehensive yoga training with both theoretical and practical sessions on 26.10.2018. It was an integral part of seven days long NSS special camp held in Puja vaccation.

In the introductory session in the morning the unit cordially received the key speaker, Yogi Ananda Maharaj, Yogi Ujjalananda Sebashram, Belda, Paschim Medinipur and his associates and the faculty members of the college who were present at the camp venue. The chief guest today, a locally very popular yoga trainer, is a monk of an Ashram who came all the way from Belda, a nearby town.. In the pre-lunch session he discussed all the theoretical aspects of yoga including its documented history and mythical connections with the nation’s past. After the lunch he gave demonstration on various Ashanas and Pranayamas. Forty five students attended the program. Few of the participants took part in that too, others kept on taking notes and recorded audio-visual glimpses of the whole programme.

Under the guidance and instruction of Dr. Nilay Kumar Maitra, NSS unit 1 of the Government General Degree College, Keshiary organised whole day comprehensive yoga training on 21/6/2019. Eleven students attended the program.

Yoga Awareness programme on Mental Health

Our College is very much keen to take interest in the holistic development of the Students. Most of our students come as first generation learner so it is quite natural that most of them are hardly aware of maintaining sound mental health. Our college have taken initiative to aware them about keeping sound mental health. The college has arranged two awareness camp .where different aspects of mental health has been discussed.

First Awareness camp was held on 30.10.2018. The camp was organised by NSS Unit 1 GGDC, Keshiary. It was an integral part of seven days long NSS special camp held in Puja vacation. Professor Abanti Bhattacharya, Assistant Professor of Psychology of GGDC, Singur gave lecture on the crisis of mental health in the contemporary time. She conducted an interactive session once the main lecture was over. Forty five students attended the program. Many of them submitted their personal problem queries and the programme helped them a lot.

Another awareness Programme on physical and Mental Health was organised by Department of Zoology, Government General Degree College, Keshiary. Prof Jayita Roy Tapadar, Dept of Anthropology, Government General Degree College, Keshiary delivered the lecture on mental health. Prof. Debarshi Mondal delivered the lecture on maintaining physical health .He laid emphasis on precaution from thalassemia. The program was an integral part of Students’ Week which was held in the college during first week of January, 2022 under the direction and guidance of Higher Education Department, Govt of West Bengal. The Programme was held through online mode due to Covid restriction and amidst Covid crisis the programme actually served the need of the day.

Hands on training on Mushroom Cultivation

The Mushroom Cultivation is very lucrative agro business nowadays. It has played very crucial part in the export market of India. To get the students benefitted from the skill Department of Botany GGDC, Keshiary gave the Students Hands on training programme on Mushroom Cultivation which took place in our college premises on 25.9.2019. Eleven Students actively participated in that programme.

Hands on training induction programme on making Hand Sanitizer

Covid period opens our eyes about contagious disease and infections which can be prevented by maintaining basic hygiene and for that Hand Sanitizer is proven very essential. During Covid period commercial production of Hand Sanitizer has been increased thus making it a lucrative business. Dept of Chemistry and NSS unit 1, GGDC, Keshiary has taken initiative to train the interested students about the making process of Hand Sanitizer which help them to become self dependent in future. The training took place at the college premises on 15.3.2023 and twelve students took part at the training.
