From the desk of the Principal

Government General Degree College, Keshiary (also known as Keshiary Government College) was established in the year 2015 to provide scope of higher education among the youth of the remote rural tribal area of the district of Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal. Since its inception, it has earned the admiration and affection of the local community who dream to fulfil their aspiration of higher education and get involved in their further academic and career pursuit on the strength of their perceived educational achievements.

The college on being affiliated to the Vidyasagar University has adopted its syllabi and curriculum to offer degree courses in Arts and Science streams under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) till the Academic Year (AY) 2022-2023. Justifying the notion and vision of National Education Policy, 2020 (NEP, 2020) which emphasise on the five entities namely Access, Equity, Quality, Affordability and Accountability, the college has adopted the Curriculum and Credit Framework for Undergraduate Programmes (CCFUP) from the AY 2023-2024, a fusion of flexibility of choice-based credit system and multidisciplinary approach.

Apart from its regular curricular activities, the college remains actively involved in round the year initiatives that promote wholesome development of the students namely: debates, organising awareness programmes, sports, social service works, intra and inter college competitions, cultural programmes, etc. The teaching and non-teaching staff of the college along with its dedicated volunteers of the NSS Unit 1 keep round the year vigilance on the maintenance of a clean and green campus. The NSS Unit 1 conducts several planned awareness programmes and carry out social welfare activities in the nearby adopted village. The exercise inculcates the aura of sociocultural heritage and sense of responsibility in the body and mind of the students and other stakeholders.

The college feels proud about its bright alumni who have already earned laurels in higher academic pursuits and have established themselves as a responsible citizen in their professional frontiers both in Government and private sectors. The college believes that its students would surely unfurl flags of success in unclaimed peaks of achievements in near future and establish the norms of their perceived higher learning in their day-to-day life thereby creating an organised and Indian responsible society.
