Environmental Awareness

Environmental awareness involves understanding the impact of human activities on the environment and the importance of its protection. This includes addressing air, water, soil, and noise pollution, wildlife conservation, and energy conservation. Government General Degree College, Keshiary, held various environmental awareness programs throughout the year, involving students, faculty, and staff. Participants pledged to take positive environmental action to protect nature and the planet. They also created placards to raise awareness about tree plantation, plastic pollution, and anti-pollution campaigns.

Objectives

1. Sensitise the students to keep their surroundings clean and green by planting trees.
2. Motivate the students to minimise the use of plastic bags, and not to throw them anywhere or in public places as they obstruct drains and sewers, cause water logging, and provide the breeding ground for mosquitoes.
3. Organise tree plantation programs.
4. Organise several popular programs such as quiz competitions, essay writing, painting competitions, rallies, etc., regarding various environmental issues and educate general people about the re-use of waste & preparation of products out of waste material.
5. For conservation of water by minimising the use of water.
6. Encourage students to imbibe habits and lifestyles for minimum waste generation, source separation of waste, and waste disposal to the nearest storage point.
7. Educate students to create awareness amongst public and sanitary workers, to stop the indiscriminate burning of waste which causes respiratory diseases.
8. Organise a Nature Trail in Wild Life Forest areas to know about the Biodiversity.
9. Aware the students of the harmful effects of nicotine or drug use etc.

In addition, throughout the previous five to six years, NSS Unit 1 of GGDC, Keshiary has organized several cleaning programs both inside and outside the campus in an effort to increase environmental awareness among the institute's students.Tree Plantation programme ware organized following nearly all of the significant events held at the college. A number of environmental awareness-focused tour programs were organized for our students by various departments and the NSS Unit.
